JOB SUMMARY - Ultrasound Technologist II/III:
Department: Diagnostic Imaging Reports To: Director, Diagnostic Imaging
The Ultrasound Technologist under the direction of a qualified physician, radiologist, diagnostic imaging manager, assistant manager, and ultrasound coordinator performs responsible diagnostic procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data to assist medical practitioners in detection and diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Participates in other hospital committees and teams as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited training program in Ultrasonography, ARMDS registry required in speciality area. Must maintain CME for active status in ARDMS.
Certification(s): Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Registered and competent in one specialty area and demonstrates competency in a second specialty area from the following list: A) Obstetrics and Gynecology: B) Abdomen: C) Adult Echocardiology: D) Pediatric Echocardiology: E) Vascular Technology, F) Breast.
Experience: Ultrasound Technologist II: One (1) year experience in ultrasound imaging AND registered and competent in one (1) specialty area AND proven competency in a second specialty area from the following list: a) Obstetrics and Gynecology: b) Abdomen: c) Adult Echocardiology: d) Pediatric Echocardiology: e) Vascular Technology, f) Breast
Ultrasound Technologist III: Two (2) years’ experience in ultrasound imaging AND registered and competent in two (2) specialty areas AND proven competency in a third specialty area from the following list: a) Adult Echocardiology; b) Pediatric Echocardiology; c) Vascular Technology
