Director, Pediatric Hematology

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Penn State Children’s Hospital and the Penn State University College of Medicine is recruiting a Director of the Pediatric Hematology Program. An established track record in clinical research in coagulation and thrombosis, benign hematology, and/or hemoglobinopathies is encouraged. Responsibilities will include patient care, clinical research, and teaching. The position will also include a small amount of participation in pediatric oncology patient care. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.  Rank is at the Assistant to Full Professor level and commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Opportunities for program development are significant.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology currently has 14 Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologists, and 12 Ph.D. faculty. The Hemophilia Center of Central Pennsylvania follows approximately 450 patients with inherited bleeding disorders in a multidisciplinary clinic with both adult and pediatric providers.  There is also a state-supported Sickle Cell Program. Over 100 new oncology patients are seen annually, and in addition to hemophilia and sickle cell disease, there are programs in pediatric stem cell transplantation, neuro-oncology, experimental therapeutics, AYA, and survivorship. The division has an accredited Pediatric Hem/Onc fellowship program and is an active member of COG, PBMTC, POETIC, and the BCC.  Opportunities to participate in clinical and translational research are outstanding. Clinical investigation is supported by an NIH-funded CTSI, a Pediatric Clinical Research Office, the Penn State Cancer Institute and the Institute for Personalized Medicine.

Please submit a current CV and letter of interest to: Patty Shipton, FASPR, Physician Recruiter, at pshipton@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.

Applications are accepted until position filled.
