The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in a School of Nursing and has successfully completed two Clinical Nursing rotations. When on duty, s/he assists patients with activities of daily living and provides basic patient care which is designed to meet the physical, emotional and social needs of the patient. The Nurse Extern may also be cross trained to perform unit Secretary clerical duties. The nurse Extern may perform nursing practice interventions which have been learned within his/her clinical training and which have been successfully validated by an RN staff member. The Nurse Extern may perform any other duties as assigned.
