Job SummaryTo assist with patient care and management under the responsibility and supervision of the surgeon. To perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services. Assists in gathering the data necessary in implementing the diagnosis and, thereby, the therapeutic plan of the surgeon. A major role will be as patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients and physicians. Reports directly to the surgeon for all patient-care-related functions.Job DutiesMust have proven ability to work in a team environment Demonstrated deep concern for the health and well-being of others. Must be able to deal with patients in such a way as to instill confidence and ease of communication. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Position DetailsGEISINGER WYOMING VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER: (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 274 beds, and houses the only Level II Trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Janet Weis Children's Hospital Pediatric Unit, a transplant program and the Brain & Spine Tumor Institute. Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is GWV's ambulatory campus.
