Division Chief, Pediatric Dentistry

Anne Hunter Jenkins Endowed Master Clinician in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics

University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital

On behalf of Patricia DePompei, RN, MSN, President, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital (UH/RBC) and MacDonald Women’s Hospital, CareerPhysician, LLC, a leader in academic pediatric leadership recruitment, has initiated a national search to identify an inspiring leader to serve in the role as the Division Chief of Pediatric Dentistry and the Anne Hunter Jenkins Endowed Master Clinician in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

The incoming Chief will have a demonstrated track record in strong, hospital based clinical leadership and quality improvement expertise with the responsibility of establishing and implementing a vision that encompasses the mission values of UH/RBC: To Heal, To Teach, To Discover.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • The Division Chief leads collaborative efforts within RBC and the entire University Hospitals (UH) system to ensure that the highest quality patient care is provided as well as oversees faculty activity that includes provision of education and mentorship to Pediatric Dental Residents; research and innovation; community outreach and advocacy; and regional/national academic collaboration and thought leadership.
  • Pediatric Dental Clinic at the UH Rainbow Center for Women & Children: The Dental Clinic offers full-service Pediatric Dentistry in six state-of-the-art operatories, leveraging fully digital diagnostic technology, (including Nomad handheld intra-oral x-ray units), chairside electronic medical record, and nitrous oxide analgesia. Our Solea-certified dentists use the Solea laser for both soft and hard tissue procedures in this clinic, offering our patients the option of injection-free dentistry. More complex cases are referred from this clinic for treatment under either general anesthesia in the Prentiss OR, or under IV sedation in the Pediatric Sedation Unit, both located at main campus RBC, just minutes down the road from the UH Rainbow Center.  The Division of Pediatric Dentistry has dedicated treatment rooms in both surgery locations, and priority time most days of the week.
  • Center for Advanced Pediatric Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery & Pediatric Dentistry: Located within RBC, this novel, first-in-Ohio (second in the US) center will allow for physical integration of robust clinical specialties, including pediatric dentistry, plastic surgery, cranio-maxillofacial surgery, and craniofacial orthodontics, and will leverage the most innovative, state-of-the-art technology such as intra oral scanners, cone beam tomography, 3D printing, 3D photography, virtual surgical planning, and patient specific 3D printed dental and surgical splints to assist with clinic and operative procedures.
  • UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital Ronald McDonald Care Mobile: the 43-foot-long full dental clinic on wheels provides on-site dental care to underserved children ages 3 to 12 for nearly 4,000 patients each year who don't have a regular dentist and are not getting routine checkups and cleanings.
  • Qualified candidates must be Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment commensurate with experience and qualifications at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.
  • Recognized as the top ranked children’s hospital in northern Ohio, UH/RBC is a 244-bed, Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and principal referral center for Ohio and the region.
  • RBC is part of University Hospitals Health System (UH), a $4 billion regional fully integrated health system. UH leadership has a clear commitment to the academic mission.  Support and infrastructure for research are available through both the UH Clinical Research Center and Research Health Analytics and Informatics, providing core services to support investigators and their teams to responsibly grow research and scientific innovation to improve patient care.

For more details about this opportunity, or if you would like to recommend an individual(s) who exemplifies the qualities we are seeking in a candidate, please contact Marcel Barbey at marcel@careerphysician.com, or at 817-707-9034.
