ChristianaCare is one of the nation's largest teaching institutions and a major tertiary-care health system. ChristianaCare is a regional referral center for Delaware and surrounding states, as well as a major provider of primary medical and dental care for the community. Offering a fully accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program, our program is at the forefront of the specialty in education, scholarly activity and surgical technique.

ChristianaCare is also Delaware's only Level I adult and pediatric trauma center and is approximately the 15th busiest health system on the East Coast, in-terms of admissions and emergency room visits. Our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) program and the residents, benefit in that ChristianaCare Residency Programs are not offered in otorhinolaryngology or plastic surgery, affording them the unique opportunity to gain experience in all areas of head and neck surgery without jurisdictional issues.

We presently seek a full-time or part-time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, committed to academics, to join a team focused on excellence in patient care and residency education. This faculty role will primarily require resident clinic teaching. Didactic education and scholarly activity are also encouraged.

Why ChristianaCare:

  • Our strengths are in our teaching and in our vast and varied clinical exposure to patients.
  • We are dedicated to patient safety and compassionate care in the treatment of diseases, defects and injuries of the head, face and neck and we strive to become an elite residency training program.
  • We recently opened a new, state of the art clinical facility on the Wilmington Campus.

To be considered, our qualifications include:

  • Successful graduation from a fully accredited Dental School with a DMD or DDS degree.
  • Successful completion of a fully accredited Oral and maxillofacial Surgery residency training program.
  • Board certification or active pursuit of certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Along with proximity to Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York City, the Atlantic seashore, and Pocono mountains, our location offers its residents a low cost of living, nearby beaches for water sports and relaxation, nearby winter sports, tax free shopping, excellent dining and cultural activities, a thriving and highly connected medical community, and nationally recognized school systems.
