Job Summary

Geisinger is seeking a BC/BE Neuro Muscular Neurologist to join our growing practice at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center located in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Job Duties

Geisinger's Neuro-Muscular team:

  • Neurologists that are board certified in neuromuscular medicine, with subspecialty training in neuromuscular disorders.
  • Geisinger has the highest level of accreditation to perform EMG from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
  • Within Geisinger's neurology and neurosurgery program, have the ability to do biopsies. This is more convenient for patients, who can get the procedure done immediately, versus setting up multiple appointments.
  • Neurosurgeons perform muscle and nerve biopsies and have a neuropathologist who reads them on site.  
  • Preform in office same-day Skin Biopsies.  
  • Geisinger is recognized as a Muscular Dystrophy Association and an ALS Association clinical site for approved care and research trials. With specialty clinics for both MDA and ALS located in Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where patients can see all specialists in one location during a single visit.

Position Details

GEISINGER WYOMING VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER: (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 274 beds, and houses the only Level II Trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Janet Weis Children's Hospital Pediatric Unit, a transplant program and the Brain & Spine Tumor Institute. Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre is GWV's ambulatory campus.
