Faculty Physician – Pediatric Anesthesiology (Assistant or Associate Professor – Academic or Master Clinician Track)

The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full-time ABA board certified or board eligible candidate with a primary expertise in pediatrics. 

This position will be responsible for the leadership of the pediatric anesthesiology service as part of a team of anesthesiologists located at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

About the Appointment:

• Develop goals and objectives for the Pediatric Division in line with the Department Strategic initiatives.
• Lead recruitment of academic anesthesiologists for the Division.
• Work with faculty to advance the missions of the Department and grow internal and external collaborations.
• Mentor and develop faculty in education, research and clinical care, increasing academic productivity and fostering progress toward promotion.
• Monitor and ensure success of fellowship program; oversee resident and medical student education within Pediatric Division. Teaching residents and fellows is an important part of the role.
• Partner with health system staff to ensure optimization of the clinical practice including quality, standardization, peer review, productivity, performance improvement and clinical scheduling.
• Perform clinical duties as a member of the Pediatric Division and share in call responsibilities.
• Foster engagement and teamwork within and outside the Pediatric Division.

Qualifications:

• Board certified or board eligible in anesthesiology, subspecialty board certification in pediatric anesthesiology, and completion of an ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency training.
• Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
• Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
• Prior leadership, mentoring and team building experience
• Strong clinical background with demonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical excellence in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
• Track record of funded research a plus, including clinical trials as well as high-impact peer-reviewed publications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal fellowship training or significant experience in pediatric anesthesiology is preferred.
