Research Analyst III

JOB SUMMARY:
Independently, performs a wide variety of complex and independent activities to plan, organize, and conduct social, economic, or health related research.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate investigations relating to research studies
  • Interpret and analyze data appropriately
  • Prepare progress reports requiring in-depth analysis, recommendations, and/or conclusions.
  • Establish research protocols and select data sources
  • Define goals for recruitment of study participants
  • Set parameters to conduct interviews
  • Create database files
  • Record information
  • Serve as primary contact with principal investigator
  • Assist in developing plans for research studies
  • Discuss interpretation of results
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Make oral and/or written presentation of study concepts
  • Presentation are completed in a professional manner according to accepted practices
  • Keep abreast of trends in field of study
  • Read professional journals and attend meetings and/or seminars
  • Supervise Research Analyst I and II, technical support staff and student assistants and post doctoral fellows
  • Plan and assign work
  • Train and develop as appropriate

Department Summary:

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is comprised of more than 140 faculty members dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating cardiovascular disease.

A fundamental component of our mission is research aimed at understanding the causes of cardiovascular disease and the translation of this knowledge to improve patient care. Our faculty are recognized nationally and internationally for their work in basic, clinical, and translational investigation. Our research programs occupy more than 30,000 square feet of laboratory space on the Vanderbilt campus. Since 2013, NIH funding to the Division has increased by 2.6-fold, and overall extramural funding has increased by 70%.
