Description

Clinical/Translational Research Coordinator I (HPV Impact Project)

Job Summary:

This position is a full-time position and is part of the Emerging Infections Program (EIP), in the Department of Health Policy, whose projects focus on surveillance, prevention and control of emerging infectious disease. EIP is a population-based network including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local health departments, and academic centers to assess the public health impact of emerging infections and to evaluate methods for their prevention and control.

Current surveillance and research areas include invasive bacterial infections (ABCs), human papillomavirus (HPV), influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and hospital associated infections. This position will focus on HPV Surveillance. The aim of the project is to monitor HPV vaccine impact on cervical cancer and its precursors.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator and a senior Surveillance Officer (SO), the Clinical Translational Research Coordinator I (CTRC I) is responsible for coordinating the IRB and sponsor approval processes and conduct of research protocols, such that the integrity and quality of the research is maintained and conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, federal and sponsor regulations and guidelines, and Vanderbilt Policy and Procedure and research protocols. The CTRC I ensures study-related procedures are performed as required and objectives and timelines are met. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation and communication with Investigators, participants, IRB, sponsors and other research related entities.

Key functions and expected performances include but are not limited to the following:

  • Independently identify cervical pre-cancer and cancer cases.
  • Determine pathological diagnosis, abstract clinical data, perform data entry, perform data analysis and ensure compliance with the study protocol and overall clinical objectives.
  • Serve as a resource for inquiries about study progress with CDC and Tennessee Cancer Registry.
  • Assist with regulatory/IRB submissions.
  • Participate in study related meetings at CDC and EIP annual presentations.
  • Acquire tissue blocks from pathology labs, arrange for processing and shipping of specimens according to protocol for additional testing at CDC.
  • Perform case identification and medical record review at laboratories and OBGYN clinics in Davidson County.
  • Assist senior SO with manuscript preparation, data presentations, and scientific posters.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position.

Salary is dependent upon education and experience.
