Registered Nurse - Cardiac MR - Durham NC 27710

Must have at least 1 year of RN experience

 

The Duke University Cardiac MRI unit is the largest dedicated cardiovascular MRI imaging center in the United States with >4,000 procedures per year.  Commonly performed exams include: myocardial viability exam to assess for myocardial infarction and infiltrative disease as well as accurate determination of left ventricular ejection fraction and structural heart disease; adenosine stress testing to assess for inducible myocardial ischemia; adult and pediatric congenital heart disease; and non-invasive 3-dimensional arterial angiography.

 

Work schedule: 4(four) 10 hour shifts per week, early and late as needed.

Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Participate in own professional development by maintaining required Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of unlicensed care providers. Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and learners. Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and act patient's baseline needs and response to care. competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate care including equipment and material resources. as assigned. utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit assistance or educational offerings. Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients plan of care Working knowledge and completion of appropriate JCAHO and other Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirements regulatory requirements Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process Ability to use computer and learn new software programs and their families Ability to use fine motor skills designated by work area Ability to record activities, document assessments, plan of care, Ability to navigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively Ability to remain focused and organized Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, Able to document and communicate pertinent information using computer routine and special treatments to patients interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others and/or paper documentation tools Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking. NCA Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing Required

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.

 

Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
