Occ Summary

Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician order s and established policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to pa tients and families inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North CarolinaBoard of Nursing.

 

Work Performed

 

Pl an, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders and e stablished policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's basel ine needs and response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activiti es of other licensed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing p ersonnel in the delivery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse fora group of patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and material resources.Participate in own professional develop ment by maintaining requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formallearners.Participa te in the identification of clinical or operational performanceimproveme nt opportunities and in performance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (orhigher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.

 

Experience

 

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible forthis level.

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

 

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
