The Inova Neuroscience Service Line (INSL) is part of the Inova Health System and a regional leader in the diagnosis, treatment and research of complex neurological conditions involving the brain, spine and nervous system. From its hub at Inova Fairfax Hospital, the Institute also encompasses specialized programs at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Inova Loudoun Hospital and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. With a network of five hospitals and more than 14,000 neuroscience patients treated annually, Inova Neuroscience and Spine Institute is the largest program of its kind in Northern Virginia and one of the most comprehensive within the mid-Atlantic region. Led by highly trained, nationally recognized physicians, the Institute diagnoses and treats adult and pediatric patients with neurotrauma, concussions, stroke and cerebrovascular disease, memory disorders, spine conditions, brain and spinal tumors. Its comprehensive sub-specialty offerings, multidisciplinary approach and seamless interactions within the health system ensure that every patient receives the appropriate level of leading-edge care in the most convenient and appropriate setting.

The Inova Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program includes experts from multiple disciplines including emergency medicine, radiology, neurology, pharmacy, critical care, nursing and rehabilitation. All team members work closely together to give each patient the best chance at stroke recovery. All five of Inova's hospitals have earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval(r) for stroke car. Our Program offers sophisticated, minimally invasive technology and advanced imaging by interventional neuroradiologists, and cerebrovascular and endovascular surgeons.

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to support the Stroke Program at Inova Fairfax Medical Center which is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. This individual will be responsible for providing acute and follow-up care to stroke patients in accordance with program and regulatory requirements. Specific duties include:

• Clinical Practice & Management of Care: Provides safe therapeutic care in holistic and systemic way to include the assessment and overall management of care for critically ill patients under the supervision of an MD. Exercises independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the appropriate licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for Advanced Practice Professional. Prescribes medications in accordance with state guidelines. Patient care duties may include education and research.
• Teamwork: Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others. Demonstrates respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines, and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Evidence-based/Best Practice: Utilizes evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice. Participates in Quality/Best Practice initiatives by utilizing standards and guidelines for cost-effective care delivery in order to continuously improve patient care and enhance outcomes.
• Professional Development: Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, and mentor. Leadership skills demonstrated in decision making and problem solving.

Preferred:
Acute Care experience.
Neurology experience
SCRN certification

Schedule:

3 12-hour shifts per week including nights/weekends/Holidays
