Discover Your Career at Emory University

Emory University is a leading research university that fosters excellence and attracts world-class talent to innovate today and prepare leaders for the future. We welcome candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.

Description

The Center for Immunity and Applied Genomics (CIAG), a joint entity within Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine, invites applications for a tenure eligible position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, in the broad area of Clinical Genomics (MD and/or PhD required).

Faculty appointment will be primarily in the Department of Pediatrics within the Emory University School of Medicine, with the possibility of a joint appointment in the Department of Human Genetics. We offer a highly interactive collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities, as well as proximity to and collaborations with the Winship Cancer Institute, the Emory Vaccine Center, Emory Lowance Center for Immunology, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Visit our website for more information on our faculty, department, and resources.

Areas of particular interest relate to the clinical diagnosis of pediatric immune disorders applying genomic approaches such as targeted or whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, and other functional genomic assays. Single cell biology is also an area of growth as it relates to understanding the biology of immune disease. Applicants will be expected to build a clinical diagnostic program focused on some aspect of neonatal or infant immunology, such as very early onset autoimmunity, primary immune deficiency, and chronic inflammation. The candidate will be expected to develop an innovative, externally funded research program, as well as engage in cross-disciplinary initiatives.

Interested applicants should attach their CV, research and teaching statements, as well as a diversity statement and the names of 3 references. Inquiries sent to (skugath@emory.edu).

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University have worked together since 1956, facilitating leading-edge pediatric research, training, and innovation. Together, our partnership advances research and facilitates evidence-based quality care for children. In 2020, the Emory Department of Pediatrics was the #1 ranked pediatric department in National Institutes of Health research funding.

This job posting is part of our ambitious $200M investment to substantially grow our team of world class child health researchers over the next five years.
