Description

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children's) and Emory University School of Medicine, located in Atlanta, Georgia, has an opening for a Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis physician for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, beginning July, 2022. This position will report to the Chief of Pathology and serve as a critical member of laboratory leadership in this large pediatric healthcare system. The Transfusion Medicine and Apheresis physician will join a group of eighteen pathology faculty members based at Children's, nine of whom are existing Clinical Pathologists or PhD laboratory scientists. The department is known for outstanding pediatric clinical and anatomic pathology services, including a national presence in pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine. Successful candidates should demonstrate competency in transfusion medicine and good interpersonal skills, allowing for productive interactions with other transfusion medicine specialists, members of the department, technical staff, and caregivers. The ability to work both within and outside the department to lead or support research in transfusion medicine is also important. There are abundant opportunities for academic pursuits and teaching.

Qualifications include:* M.D. or D.O. board certification in Clinical Pathology or a clinical discipline related to pediatric medicine* Board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine* Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia

About Children's Healthcare of AtlantaChildren's is one of the most respected pediatric healthcare providers in the United States. Children's offers access to more than 60 pediatric specialties and programs and is ranked among the top children's hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report. With generous philanthropic and volunteer support, Children's has impacted the lives of children in Georgia, the United States, and throughout the world for more than 100 years. With an eye towards the future, Children's continues to grow and evolve. Expected to open in 2024, the new North Druid Hills campus will be home to a 446-bed, full- service facility for inpatient medical care, taking the total system bed-size from 638 beds to 789 beds. The North Druid Hills campus will serve as the breeding ground for expanded research innovations. The hospital, Clinic Building, and the Center for Advanced Pediatrics will include space to accommodate increased Children's-led clinical research studies and trials, giving patients access to investigative drugs, procedures and devices. Because of unparalleled patient volumes, Children's can conduct more clinical trials than our peer institutions, drastically reducing the time between discovery and treatment.
