Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is the newest addition to the Penn State Health system. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure the effective delivery of patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Nurses effectively interact with patients and significant others, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Mother-Baby Nurses educate and assist new mothers with physical and emotional needs while in the hospital setting during the postpartum period. They perform the dual role of caring for the infants and educating mothers about care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the state of employment required.
BLS is required prior to orientation completion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in nursing preferred.
