Description

The Emory University Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta are seeking a Pediatric Neurologist - Cerebral Palsy Specialist. We are expanding to meet the needs of the growing pediatric community. We are committed to giving children a bright future by providing the highest quality state-of-the-art clinical care and improving how we care for children through scientific research, as well as, training the next generation of leaders in pediatrics.

Our Pediatric Neurology DivisionOur pediatric neurology team consists of 22 neurologists, soon to become 25 who are all faculty members in the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory School of Medicine, and we are looking to expand our division even further.

Emory Pediatric Neurology services are offered in collaboration with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, ranked as one of the best hospitals for children in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The Pediatric Neurosciences Program at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is ranked 12th in the USA by USNWR and one of the largest in the country, handling more than 2,400 pediatric neurological inpatient cases and performing over 1,400 neurosurgeries each year.

The neurology faculty is involved with many clinical research studies ranging from clinical trials to basic and translational research. Faculty progress their career by collaborating with our adult neurology, Emory neurosciences program, Georgia Tech and Marcus autism center.

With the Center for Disease Control and Prevention nearby, there are many opportunities for collaborations on national and international projects as well.

Experience

Candidates must be board certified or eligible in pediatric neurology and must demonstrate excellent qualifications in education and clinicalcare. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in respective clinical area

Experience in Cerebral Palsy

Education

Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.l

Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Pediatric Neurology.

Certification Summary

Board Eligible/Board certified

Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia

Current DEA registrationl

BLS certification is required. PALS certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.

Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

Demonstrates the following skills in accomplishing job duties and responsibilities:

  • Listening

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules andregulations and Children's policies and procedures.
  • Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
  • Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
  • Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
  • Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in anacceptable manner.
  • Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriatereimbursement.
  • Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
  • Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
  • Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.
