Description

The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics Population Health Research Team is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to conduct and direct research that advances the Department's vision to become a leading institution for addressing disparities and promoting equity in women's health. The fellow will have the opportunity to work on an array of projects related to maternal behavior and health.

The position will offer multiple opportunities for leading scientific papers, collaborating with clinicians and research faculty on multidisciplinary projects, and gaining experience in community engaged research through interaction with our established community advisory board.

The fellow will be responsible for:

  • Designing health services and implementation science studies, analyzing data, and interpreting and communicating results via refereed publications and presentations at internal and external meetings and conferences.
  • Conducting literature reviews and prepare IRB protocols and other regulatory documents as needed.
  • Assisting in writing grant and other funding applications as appropriate.
  • Work closely with practicing clinicians and researchers at Emory and other institutions (e.g., Georgia Tech and Morehouse School of Medicine) and may supervise other research staff.
  • Other duties may include occasional teaching at the department level and mentoring medical and public health students, residents, and fellows.

Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory, and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc.) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest and CV.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and interest in maternal health and health disparities
  • Expertise in data management and analysis using SAS, R, Stata, or other statistical software
  • Proficient in survey design, implementation, and analysis
  • Background in clinical research/ intervention studies, including familiarity with data abstraction and electronic medical records
  • Strong scientific writing and oral communication skills
  • Experience in spatial analysis and multi-level modeling (preferred)
