Clinical Trials Associate II

PEDS Genetics

Job Description: The Department of Pediatric Genetics is recruiting a Clinical Trials Associate II to support clinical research activities for a large clinical research portfolio. Day-to-day activities for this position include preparation of study visit materials, requesting and organizing medical and surgical records, data entry, data reconciliation. The position requires strong attention to detail and provides an excellent opportunity to gain fundamental research experiences in clinical genetics while working with an interdisciplinary team.

  1. Contribute to Clinical Research Team:
  • Complete required Institutional Review Board (IRB) training related to clinical trials
  • Abide by rules of confidentiality for data management of sensitive medical information for study participants
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the interdisciplinary research team
  1. Data Management:
  • Complete required training for all databases used for each clinical trial
  • Abstract and record all patient data essential to the study onto required case report forms or into the electronic data collection system.

Enter all pertinent data into electronic databases and data collection software accurately and in a timely manner

Update and maintain database after participant contacts and data collection

*** Minimum Qualifications Required ***

Associate's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 1 year experience required

  • No prior experience is needed, but the preferred candidate should have a working knowledge of data (i.e. how to read, interpret, analyze, and utilize data to draw inferences/conclusions)
  • Should be proficient in Excel and other MS Office products and applications
  • Willingness to take on challenges and fill in as needed
  • Ability to collaborate and interact well with others
  • Ability to take direction, have punctuality, and attention to detail

      • Occasional: Walking: Moving about on foot.
      • Occasional: Lifting under 35 lbs: Raising and lowering objects under 35 lbs from one level to another
      • Occasional: Push/Pull: Exerting force to move objects away from or toward.
      • Occasional: Bending/Stooping: Trunk bending downward and forward by bending spine at waist requiring full use of lower extremities and back muscles
      • Occasional: Reaching below shoulders: Extending arms in any direction below shoulders.
      • Occasional: Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand or hands.


      Sensory
      • Occasional: Vision: Clarity of near vision at 20 inches or less and far vision at 20 feet or more with depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision.
      • Frequent: Noise: May include exposure to occupational noise levels which equal or exceed an 8-hr time-weighted average of 85 decibels, requiring enrollment in VUMC's Hearing Conservation Program which includes training, use of hearing protection, and periodic audiometry.
      • Continuous: Communication: Expressing or exchanging written/verbal/electronic information.
